In a saddle-stitch booklet, pages fold into signatures: on an 8-page job the outer sheet carries pages 8 and 1 on its front, 2 and 7 on its back. Our engine plans that ordering, the duplex alignment and, if you ask, paper-thickness compensation (creep) in exact integer arithmetic; every output ships with a measured local verification receipt.

- How many sheets does a booklet take?
- A saddle-stitch booklet puts four pages on every sheet: two on the front, two on the back. So 16 pages need 4 sheets and 32 pages need 8. A page count that is not a multiple of four is padded with blank pages first — a 22-page file becomes a 24-page booklet on 6 sheets.
- How are booklet pages ordered?
- Pages pair from the outside in: on an 8-page booklet the outer sheet's front carries pages 8 and 1, its back carries 2 and 7. The tool computes this ordering for any supported length, so you never sort pages by hand.
- What is creep, and when do I need it?
- In thicker booklets the inner sheets bulge outward at the fold, pushing inner-page content toward the trim edge. Creep compensation shifts content inward by the paper's thickness per sheet. Over a handful of sheets it is barely visible; on 40+ pages or heavier stock it keeps margins even after trimming.
- Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
- No. The file is opened and imposed entirely inside your browser: no bytes leave your device and no account is needed. This is enforced by the page’s data path, not merely promised in words.
