The edge content is drawn a second time, mirrored and clipped to the bleed area only. Images are not resampled, colours do not change, no detail is invented and the original page content stays as it is. New content is, however, added outside the trim line; where a gap is closed, the background is extended up to 0.5 mm inside it. This is generated bleed; bleed built into your design is always preferable. Check the result before printing.
