AI-Assisted Preflight Review

Evidence-backed, preserve-first review guidance for image quality, geometry, font risk, and production routing.

When AI-assisted guidance is offered, it is a review and routing layer. It can organize available evidence, explain likely production risk, and prepare the next action. It is not a silent PDF mutation engine and it does not turn preview evidence into measured proof.

Preserve-first by default

The original PDF remains the source artifact. AI-assisted guidance can propose review actions, request a better source file, or route the job to an operator or supplier. The original byte sequence stays immutable. Any derived output travels as a separate artifact with provenance, receipt, limitations, and post-action evidence.

What it can help review

Maximize

Image Quality Signals

Low-resolution or suspicious raster content can be flagged with page references and recommended next actions. If enhancement is needed, it must be handled as a separate approved workflow with proof evidence; the original PDF is not silently rasterized or rewritten.

Scissors

Geometry Evidence

Missing or inconsistent TrimBox, BleedBox, non-zero origin, rotation, and UserUnit signals are reviewed through canonical geometry truth. Page-box metadata changes require evidence and an auditable operation receipt.

Type

Font Risk Review

Missing embedded fonts and glyph risks are reported so the designer can export a corrected PDF. NowToPrint does not outline, substitute, convert, or silently embed fonts inside the uploaded PDF.

Palette

Preserve-First Routing

RGB, spot colour, live transparency, overprint, and RIP compatibility risks are explained as late-binding decisions. The platform reports and routes them; it does not convert colour, flatten transparency, generate trapping, or rewrite separations.

Evidence, proof, and approval

Every AI-assisted recommendation must stay tied to the same evidence model as the preflight report: measured, estimated, heuristic, unsupported, or preview-only. This page does not say that every preflight run invokes an AI model or sends the PDF to one. A preview helps the operator inspect the file, but measured render evidence requires native PDFium render evidence, renderer identity, PDFium revision, runtime attestation, and a raw render_raster artifact hash that matches the rendered page pixelSha256.

High-confidence suggestions still need the correct workflow boundary: operator approval for review actions, a manifest and receipt for derived document operations, post-action preflight where output changes exist, and supplier proof when capability or RIP behavior is uncertain.

For supported document operations, an output is not marked verified merely because a writer returned bytes. The source and derived PDF must both pass canonical structural parsing and complete security review. The receipt binds the exact source, request, output, operation statuses, engine build, runtime profile, and known limitations, and can be checked against the exact source and output bytes.

Not automatic fixes

NowToPrint AI-assisted preflight does not perform RGB-to-CMYK conversion, spot-to-process conversion, transparency flattening, trapping, overprint mutation, font outlining, font substitution, or font conversion. A separately selected supported page or edge operation may create a derived copy; mirrored or padded edges do not recover missing artwork.

When to ask for a new source PDF

Request a corrected source PDF when the report shows missing embedded fonts, insufficient bleed artwork, destructive colour conversion requirements, unsupported transparency handling, or any issue whose safe correction belongs in the design application or specialist prepress workflow.
