AI-Assisted Preflight Review
Evidence-backed, preserve-first review guidance for image quality, geometry, font risk, and production routing.
AI-Assisted Preflight Review
AI-assisted preflight in NowToPrint is a review and routing layer. It helps organize evidence, explain likely production risk, and prepare the next action. It is not a silent PDF mutation engine and it does not turn preview evidence into measured proof.
Preserve-first by default
The original PDF remains the source artifact. AI-assisted guidance can propose review actions, request a better source file, or route the job to an operator or supplier. Any derived output must keep provenance, manifest, receipt, limitations, and post-action evidence.
What it can help review
Image Quality Signals
Low-resolution or suspicious raster content can be flagged with page references and recommended next actions. If enhancement is needed, it must be handled as a separate approved workflow with proof evidence; the original PDF is not silently rasterized or rewritten.
Geometry Evidence
Missing or inconsistent TrimBox, BleedBox, non-zero origin, rotation, and UserUnit signals are reviewed through canonical geometry truth. Page-box metadata changes require evidence and an auditable operation receipt.
Font Risk Review
Missing embedded fonts and glyph risks are reported so the designer can export a corrected PDF. NowToPrint does not outline, substitute, convert, or silently embed fonts inside the uploaded PDF.
Preserve-First Routing
RGB, spot colour, live transparency, overprint, and RIP compatibility risks are explained as late-binding decisions. The platform reports and routes them; it does not convert colour, flatten transparency, generate trapping, or rewrite separations.
Evidence, proof, and approval
Every AI-assisted recommendation must stay tied to the same evidence model as the preflight report: measured, estimated, heuristic, unsupported, or preview-only. A preview helps the operator inspect the file, but measured render proof requires native PDFium render evidence, renderer identity, PDFium revision, artifact hashes, and runtime attestation.
High-confidence suggestions still need the correct workflow boundary: operator approval for review actions, a manifest and receipt for derived document operations, post-action preflight where output changes exist, and supplier proof when capability or RIP behavior is uncertain.
Not automatic fixes
NowToPrint AI-assisted preflight does not perform RGB-to-CMYK conversion, spot-to-process conversion, transparency flattening, trapping, overprint mutation, synthetic bleed generation, font outlining, font substitution, or font conversion.
When to ask for a new source PDF
Request a corrected source PDF when the report shows missing embedded fonts, insufficient bleed artwork, destructive colour conversion requirements, unsupported transparency handling, or any issue whose safe correction belongs in the design application or specialist prepress workflow.
