What is Edge Hub?
Edge Hub is a local helper that runs on the print shop own Windows machine. This page explains what it does today, what it does not do yet, and how to join the pilot.
What is Edge Hub?
Edge Hub is a helper application that runs on a Windows machine inside your print shop. It does three things:
- It checks files locally. A customer PDF is inspected on that same machine before it reaches the press: bleed, embedded fonts, colour space, total ink coverage, mixed page sizes, encrypted or damaged files. The file does not have to be uploaded to the cloud to be checked.
- It keeps jobs in a queue. If the internet connection drops, work is not lost. Sync resumes when the connection comes back, and a job that keeps failing moves to a separate list to be handled by hand.
- It connects to your NowToPrint account. Edge Hub on the machine and your print shop account in the panel are paired with a one-time code, so your equipment and job status show up in the panel.
Where we are today: controlled pilot
Edge Hub is not published as a public download. It currently runs only on Windows 10/11 (64-bit), in a controlled pilot with invited print shops. Code signing for the installer package is still in progress, so the first install may show a Windows "unknown publisher" warning — the setup guide walks through it step by step. There is no macOS or Linux build at this stage.
What it can do today, and what it cannot yet
| Area | Status today |
|---|---|
| Pairing and sync with the panel | Working in the pilot |
| Local PDF checking, fixing and imposition | Working in the pilot; enabled per installation |
| Job queue and failure list when the connection drops | Working in the pilot |
| Hotfolder file delivery | In pilot scope, field evidence being collected |
| Sending jobs to Fiery | In pilot scope, field evidence being collected |
| Reading device status over SNMP | In pilot scope, field evidence being collected |
| HP, Canon, Ricoh, SCREEN, Konica Minolta, Xerox, Heidelberg | Not supported today — on the roadmap |
| Signed installer and automatic updates | In preparation, not finished |
| macOS / Linux | Not available at this stage |
The device compatibility page explains what each of these levels means in practice.

Which print server and protocol is in the pilot today, and which is on the roadmap.
Security and privacy
Where customer files go, and what leaves the machine.
Troubleshooting
Pairing, device not found, file checking, and update problems.
How to join the pilot
The pilot runs with a limited number of places. Leave a request on the Edge Hub page and we will get in touch to talk through your machine, your print server and your workflow. We do the installation together — you are not expected to install it alone and work it out by trial and error.
The only thing we ask during the pilot is honest feedback: what does not work is recorded just as carefully as what does.
What we do not promise
We do not write a sentence here that we cannot back with evidence. Not true today:
- There is no public signed installer download link.
- There is no support claim for the print servers marked "roadmap" above.
- We do not promise a fixed efficiency or waste-reduction percentage. We share the real numbers we measure in the pilot, and where we could not measure, we say so.
- Edge Hub does not convert your colours, flatten transparency, or invent missing content. It measures, reports, and only applies fixes that do not damage the file.
For the pilot team and partners
The pages below are for engineering and pilot operations; you need to sign in to read them.
- Core live candidate status — open blockers and the evidence table.
- OEE and ROI measurement — what we measure during the pilot.
