Installing Edge Hub: system requirements, how to get past the "unknown publisher" warning, pairing with the panel, and a post-install checklist.
Setup guide
This guide covers the Windows installation used in the controlled pilot. We normally do the installation together with you; having every step written down still shows you who does what.
The installer is not public yet
There is no public download link for Edge Hub. The installer is handed to pilot participants directly. If you would like to take part, leave a request on the Edge Hub page.

There is no macOS or Linux build at this stage. Installing on a virtual machine or terminal server has not been tried in the pilot; tell us first if you want to try.
The machine should be one that stays switched on through the working day — ideally the front-office or prepress computer. The job queue and hotfolders do not run while the machine is off.
Installation
Get the installer
Download the installer that the pilot team sent you. We also send its checksum, so you can compare it if you want to confirm that the file you downloaded is the file we produced.
Get past the "unknown publisher" warning
Code signing for the installer package is still in progress. Because of that, Windows SmartScreen will most likely show the "Windows protected your PC" box. What to do:
- Click the More info link in the box.
- Confirm that the publisher and file name shown match what we sent you.
- Press Run anyway.
This warning is not a fault; it is how Windows treats unsigned (or newly signed) packages. If you have an IT contact, do this step together with them.
Complete the installation
You can keep the default install location. The application opens when the install finishes.
Allow antivirus and firewall access
On first launch, the firewall may ask for local network access. Printer discovery and hotfolders will not work without it.
Pairing with the panel
Take the code from Edge Hub
On first launch the application opens on the pairing screen and shows a short, single-use code.
Approve it in the panel
In the NowToPrint panel, open My print shop → Settings → Equipment → Pair Edge Hub, enter the code and approve it.
The 10 minutes after approval matter
The code you approved is valid for 10 minutes, and Edge Hub must be open and online during that window — the pairing completes at that moment. Seeing "approved" in the panel is not enough on its own; confirm that the device shows up in the equipment list.
Check the diagnostics screen
Look at cloud connection, pairing state, local runtime, queue state and security settings.
If you see an entitlement error such as "Entitlement denied" during pairing, your account may not have Edge Hub pairing enabled yet. That is not an installation fault; write to the pilot team.
Post-install checklist
The installation counts as done when all of these are true:
- The device shows up by name in the equipment list in the panel.
- No line on the diagnostics screen shows an error.
- A PDF check has been run and produced a report.
- The application starts by itself after the machine is restarted.
- You know who to write to when something goes wrong.

An honest note about updates
The automatic update machinery exists inside the application, but until the signed release chain is complete, pilot installations receive updates by hand: we send the new version and install it together. That is extra friction during the pilot, and we are not hiding it.

If you want to remove it
You can remove Edge Hub from the Windows Apps and features screen. Before removing it, revoke the device from the equipment list in the panel; that invalidates the device credential. If jobs are still waiting in your local queue, tell us before removing it so we can export them together.
