System Architecture and Infrastructure
How application modules, evidence and access decisions fit together.
The NowToPrint web application combines identity, marketplace, print-shop and PDF preparation modules with shared workspace packages. Modular structure does not mean every module is a separate microservice or that a change cannot affect another module.
Infrastructure Capabilities
Pages use server and browser components. Data loading and refresh depend on the screen; a record change is not guaranteed to appear instantly everywhere. For example, print-shop Dashboard data is loaded on the server. Check the result in the relevant record and refresh when necessary.
Support for multiple users is not a promise of thousands of concurrent orders, fixed millisecond responses or uninterrupted service. Those require separate operational measurements.
Modular Architecture (Modular Monolith)
Core System Flow
- A user requests an action with the required identity and organisation context.
- The server action checks resource ownership, permission and any required current evidence.
- An admitted change updates its record and, where applicable, audit/notification records.
- The interface shows the result through that surface's read or refresh mechanism.
This sequence does not imply one data transport for every screen or automatic production. An email, visible label or link alone grants no authority.
Key Module Capabilities
1. Prepress Engine
Under the selected profile and scope, PDF inspection can report page boxes, fonts, resolution, colour-space and output-intent evidence. A diagnostic report, local preparation result and signed production decision are distinct. A report alone is not ISO 12647 certification or permission to print. Review undecided checks as well.
2. Design Studio
The current PDF Studio provides file inspection, editing, preparation, imposition and proof stages; availability depends on the file, tool and access. Legacy canvas/design-editor and template/VDP surfaces are disabled for launch. Their reference documents do not promise a live editor or unlimited variation generation.
3. Pricing Engine
Calculation uses published cost sources, job inputs and pricing policy. The platform reference price is a non-binding estimate requiring human review. Missing or invalid authority may require price review; an estimate is not a final supplier quote.
Security Model
Identity, organisation, ownership, permission, membership and the action's policy are evaluated together. A role label does not open every financial record or by itself guarantee that an operator sees only assigned jobs. If refused, check the account and organisation; an invitation or visible button does not bypass the decision.
Critical actions can ask you to sign in again. Refreshing a page does not renew credential authentication. File storage and sharing depend on the workflow; not every local PDF action uploads the file. Read the relevant privacy guide before sharing.
