Order Payment Confirmation

How an accepted quote moves to production after payment confirmation in the live pilot.

Order Payment Confirmation

In the live pilot, an order is created when the buyer accepts a print shop quote. The order then enters payment readiness and a production hold. Payment confirmation records payment evidence and can produce a later production_ready_after_payment signal after the manual gate, but a provider callback alone does not start PrintTalk, a print-shop bridge job, PDF Tools, Edge Hub, XJDF execution, production status, or fulfillment in this phase.

Card payment is not part of the live pilot. The platform collects the payment and pays the print shop after delivery, minus commission.

From order to payment readiness

  1. The buyer accepts a quote.
  2. The order is created with nested payment and production hold status.
  3. The buyer or operations requests payment readiness.
  4. NowToPrint operations confirms the payment method and payment status.
  5. The production hold becomes inactive and the order is marked ready for a later production gate.
  6. Production handoff and fulfillment start only in a later phase.

How payment is confirmed

Payment confirmation is manual during the pilot. Examples include bank transfer evidence, open-account approval, proforma/invoice terms, or an operations approval note on the order.

What the buyer sees

The order view shows the order number, amount, payment readiness, and production hold/release state. Production remains blocked while payment is pending. Approval makes the order eligible for the separate production gate; it does not start manufacturing automatically.

What the print shop sees

The print shop waits for payment approval before production intake. In this phase, approval creates readiness evidence only; the production job is created through a separate governed gate.

If something is wrong

Payment, invoice, mismatch, refund, or chargeback issues go to manual operations and finance review. Do not create a second payment attempt by changing an idempotent retry.
