Print Preparation (Prepress)
Guides for production-intent PDF preparation, browser-first preflight, server-assisted recovery, imposition, crop marks, and troubleshooting.
Use these guides to check a PDF, discuss printing requirements and inspect any prepared output. The required bleed, resolution, colour condition and finishing settings come from the job and printer. A successful upload or preview is not print approval.
Guides
Basic concepts
Page boxes, bleed, safe areas, colour and resolution.
PDF requirements
Compare the file and its evidence with the job requirements.

Read findings, profile coverage and unavailable measurements.
Imposition
Choose a supported layout and distinguish a plan from generated output.
Print marks
Supported mark types, geometry and output checks.
Ink coverage
Measured ink-map scope and printer-specific limits.

Start with the file and its profile
- Keep the original PDF and open a working copy in the appropriate tool. Standard browser input is limited to 200 MB and 500 pages; individual operations can have smaller bounds. See limits and privacy.
- Choose the relevant workflow/profile. Read which checks actually ran and which were not evaluated. Browser workflow commercial/book profiles and baseline diagnostics have different coverage; do not infer a result from the execution location alone.
- Review warnings, blocking findings and unknown measurements. An information note alone does not invalidate a complete, trusted clean workflow result. A diagnostic result is not a signed production decision.
- Correct source-file problems where needed and rerun the check on the exact result. A plan is not an output; inspect the generated PDF, its receipt and any required post-output evidence.
Local work and server processing
Browser-local actions keep their PDF processing on the device. Server processing requires the applicable access, a supported runtime and explicit consent; a browser failure does not silently authorize a transfer. Read the offered recovery action and its privacy notice.
Page operations do not silently perform colour conversion, font repair, flattening or trapping. A box extension does not recreate missing artwork. Agree source corrections, late binding and required press/colour proof with your printer. Preview pixels and file digests each identify only their own evidence; neither alone proves production suitability.
