Server Folder Intake

A server folder intake lets a machine or a script send PDFs without anyone at the keyboard, for example a scanner folder. Each file dropped in runs the approved workflow pinned to the intake on the server.

Which steps run without a person?

Today only the Preflight and Route steps can run without a person. Because the server Preflight performs only the basic checks, even a clean result does not give Ready; a person needs to look at the result (Running on the Server). Your original PDF is never changed under any circumstances.

How do I open one?

Only an organisation admin can open an intake.

If the library has no published, pre-approved workflow, prepare one first. An intake cannot be opened without an approved workflow.

The key is shown only once

Copy the key and keep it somewhere safe; you cannot come back to this screen and see it again. If you lose it, revoke the intake and open a new one.

How does a machine or script use it?

Once the intake is open, the screen shows two drop addresses next to the key: Address to start an upload and Address to process the file. The machine or script sends the key in the “Authorization: Bearer” header of every request. After you have saved the key, press I have saved the key, close.

Monitoring intakes

The Intakes list shows, for each intake, its status (Open, Expired, Revoked), the last digits of the key, the expiry date, the number of files taken today and Recent drops. Above the section you can see how many runs are going at the same time in the organisation and how many intakes are open.

Revoking

Revoke closes the key at once. Runs that already started carry on.

Limits

• One intake takes at most 500 new files a day.
• The organisation can have at most 10 open intakes.
• The organisation can have at most 3 runs going at the same time.
