Layer Management

Saved-object grouping, lock and geometry reference; the legacy artwork panel is closed.

This is a reference for saved artwork objects. The legacy canvas and its Layers panel are closed. A PDF's optional-content groups, page content and workflow-canvas nodes are different concepts; the current PDF preview is not a generic artwork layer editor.

Layers Panel

Older screenshots placed an object list at the bottom right. That layout and its icon positions are illustrative, not current controls. The saved model can carry an object's layer label, lock flag, coordinates and a group's children. A layer label alone does not establish draw order or PDF optional-content behavior.

Layer Ordering

Use the owning source application's explicit stacking controls when preparing a replacement file. Inspect the exported PDF to confirm which artwork overlaps. The legacy Ctrl+bracket shortcuts are not documented current application commands; PDF preview brackets navigate findings instead.

Grouping

The model includes group objects with child objects. When a compatible authorized consumer supports groups, use them to organize related artwork and inspect every child after transformation. A source group does not prove that an exporter supports it: the retained local batch generator rejects unsupported group objects rather than rendering a guaranteed equivalent.

There is no current right-click Group/Ungroup or Ctrl+G artwork procedure promised here. Keep an editable source copy when grouping or flattening in another application.

Locking

A saved lock flag can describe editing intent. It is not access control, a watermark or an export restriction. Verify the behavior in the source tool; do not infer that a locked object is unselectable in every consumer or safe from modification. Ctrl+L is not a universal object-lock shortcut.

Visibility

The base saved-object contract does not define the old panel's hide/export behavior. Hiding content in a source view may differ from excluding it from print. Inspect the actual exported PDF and any optional-content state; do not assume a hidden object is always omitted.

Alignment and Distribution

For source artwork, align edges/centers deliberately and check equal spacing at final size. Coordinates, widths and heights are available in the document model, but do not prove an available alignment toolbar. PDF-viewer pan/zoom only changes the view.

Smart Guides

The old snapping lines, grid magnets and guide interactions are not current canvas guarantees. Use the source application's displayed units and guides and verify the resulting geometry; a visual snap is not measured trim or bleed evidence.

Naming

Keep meaningful source-object and version names, such as Main Logo or Background. The model's identifier/layer fields help describe objects, but no current double-click rename panel or cloud-save history is promised. Export and inspect a named PDF version before sharing.
